Sorry for posting something off topic, I am appealing to my worldwide community
of colleagues to ask advice regarding OEM or external 2400/4800 baud modems for
a small Telemetry project. These will be preferably installed in VX-2200
mobiles or inline via the HD15 connector.

I have a question relating to the upcoming narrowbanding I have been hearing
about as it relates to surplus equipment.
Does the narrowbanding effect just 700, 800, 900MHz trunked systems? Or is it
across the board, including all commercial VHF and UHF users?
I was just curious as to what
Narrow banding only affects VHF and UHF users.

My two Desktracs are L44SUM7000BT's as well. I wouldn't call this
chassis a 'trunk mount' however, and these are 25kHz channel radios as
well.
I forgot to include the RB link with the information about the Desktrac systems:

Don't know where he got the trunk mount. My articles at repeater-builder
say that AX is Israel, and that L is a tabletop station.

I wonder if this is a battery issue, possibly affecting any user, or simply a
handheld that was supposed to be rated for use in explosive environments which
turns out not to meet spec.
In any event, a very funny recall notice!

Hello All,
Today, I came in possession of a Mastr II low band receiver on 33mhz for
a 10 meter project that I'm working on. What caught my eye right away on
this particular receiver was the IFAS board. This board looked
dramatically different from all those I have seen before. There were
If I'd have to guess I'd say certain components, like polarized
electrolytic capacitors are installed backwards on the board.
But then...how did they make it through quality assurance? Oh, wait...

Yeah, well if it is low voltage usually it will sneak through.

Yes, Mike is correct. The 'L' is desktop Station.
And to add to this the DeskTrac chassis and power supply IS made in Israel, and
the Maxtrac radios are made in Malaysia

Hi Bob,
90% of the weight of our PRU is the battery alone. We think around 10 Kg is
pretty good for a complete repeater, incl duplexer, battery and radios. We
wanted to have the battery inclusive as then anyone can deploy the repeater and
not have to worry about batteries or anything that
Looking for a recommendation for an HT for GMRS use which is either fully
keypad programmable, or at least capable of changing tones from the keypad.
A tone scan feature would be nice, but not a necessity...
