Project duration: 6+ months Senior Technology Engineer- Database Administrator The Senior Technology Engineer-Database is responsible for the overall enterprise-wide performance, effectiveness and efficiency of database technology systems and manages the technology lifecycle by designing, engineering and managing a reliable, stable and dependable infrastructure. This role collaborates with associates, business partners, vendors and IT staff to resolve hardware, Operating System and infrastructure software issues and escalates issues, as appropriate. The Senior Technology Engineer-Database reviews current database technology solutions for efficiencies, optimization and automations, and the evaluation and selection of new technologies and also assists in the review of database technology solution designs for adherence to technology best practices. The Senior Technology Engineer-Database also provides third level support to end users and does so by effectively and efficiently working helpdesk tickets as well as partnering in release and service management processes. This role coordinates and drives delivery for all work and deliverables with an outsourced development team and/or outside technology vendor. In addition to ensuring compliance procedures are followed and maintaining documentation, standards, policies and procedures, this role defines processes and procedures for installation, configuration and optimization of applications, while also executing complex installations, and utilizing management applications to proactively identify faults. The Senior Technology Engineer-Database also mentors Technology Engineers to help drive both individual and organizational performance. Leadership Trains and mentors all associates and tier one associates. Educates and trains all associates and tier one associates on new technology to ensure everyone takes full advantage of its capabilities. Analysis and Planning Designs infrastructure solutions by ensuring hosting solutions deliver on Service Level Agreements, meet DR RTO & RPO, can be supported with minimal staff and that costs are kept to a minimum. Engineers infrastructure solutions by ensuring hosting solutions are sized to deliver optimum performance at the right cost, are consistent and can be supported by limited staff Executes technology utilization / capacity management by ensuring hosting solutions are utilizing the right amount of resources so capacity is not wasted. Also ensures CBI receives, at minimum, equal value for every dollar spent. Executes performance and tuning by ensuring hosting solutions are utilizing the right amount of resources so capacity is not wasted. Consequently, ensures CBI receives, at minimum, equal value for every dollar spent. Facilitation and Implementation Executes Technology builds (Install & Config) by building in repeatable fashions, driving a streamlined support model, and enabling quick recovery in the event of an outage. Performs technology maintenance (micro code, patches) by ensuring technology is maintained at supported levels, continued support from vendors, and that security practices are met and prevent outages by installing tested bug fixes. Coordinates and delivers key pieces of work and deliverables (within the team) by ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget. Support Technology break fix, Tier one, two, three support-Enables quicker Mean time to Recovery, driving increased application availability, and driving out repeat failures, while ensuring increased application availability. Defines and documents procedures & policies by ensuring all systems and solutions can be supported by all relevant associates, enabling quicker mean time to repair for outages, communicating all changes to interested parties, and ensuring security practices are followed. Technology-Specific Qualifications: Must have: Experience with as a DB2\Datacom DBA. Mainframe z/OS platform experience. Datawarehouse experience. Preferred Technology Experience: Database technologies (Oracle, DB2, SQL, CA Datacom, etc.) Design of physical data storage Prototype designs against logical data models, Defines data repository requirements, Data dictionaries and warehousing requirements Data Modeling Security Permissions Scripting Database standards and Database policy Maintain knowledge with current and emerging technology Tuning and SQL design Thanks & Regards Murthy N.
