Duration : 6 months v Extensive experience monitoring and maintaining a production Teradata environment. Familiar with logging onto the Teradata nodes, running tools from the Supervisor screen such as PackDisk, CheckTable, ScanDisk, and other diagnostic tools such as VProcManager, setting GDO parameters and other tools available on the Supervisor screen. v Teradata database design and Teradata SQL experience. Expertise in Teradata load utilities like MLoad and OLELoad, Teradata Parallel Transport utility (TPT) coding, maintain and develop Unix scripts and BTEQ scripts v Expert in planning and execution of hardware/software upgrades and expansion, extensive shell scripting, system tuning and troubleshooting on UNIX, knowledge of database recovery and restart procedures, database monitoring and skilled with periodic performance tuning. v *In-depth knowledge of Teradata Explain and Visual Explain to analyze and improve query performance, expert level knowledge of complex SQL using Teradata functions, UDFs, macros and stored procedures, expertise in Data Warehouse Metadata concepts, tools and repositories. v Broad knowledge of diverse data administration methodologies, and tools, knowledge of runtime optimization, capacity management and planning, security, configuration, scheduling, and execution of maintenance utilities, implemented multi-value compression. v Experience using Teradata TMON to monitor and manage Teradata RDBMS resource utilization (TASM), and have created alert policies for monitoring database space, average disk use, TASM priority scheduler. v Extensive TPUMP V13: Teradata: TTU V. 13.10 Release Teradata Parallel Transporter for near real time and eliminates batch window. *TDQM . Candidate will demonstrate superior knowledge of Teradata database features, tuning and design methodologies. The ideal candidate will have solid Teradata experience, working knowledge of Sybase and MS SQL Server, and a willingness to learn new technologies. v Manages and maintains all Teradata production and non-production databases. v Responsible for Teradata standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. v Perform Production implementations and work with application developers to tune their SQL for standard coding practices and generate DDL. v Responsible for design and correct functioning of backup and recovery on DBMS. v Configures Teradata database parameters, creates prototype designs against logical data models, and defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. v Optimizes Teradata database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost. v Evaluates and implements new initiatives on technology and process improvement. v Serves as SME in all aspects of Teradata data management and database design. v Serves as SME in all aspects of Teradata DBMS software. v Responsible for maintaining the availability of Teradata version 14 databases in a production and non-production environments v Ensure compliance in related tasks with company and regulatory policies and procedures v Perform additional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned v Follow proper hand-over process between on-shore and off-shore team v Responsibility for constructing and/or optimizing physical database designs tailored for the Teradata information warehousing database environment in support of various strategic application development initiatives. v Supporting application development timelines by reviewing and assisting in the implementation of designs and/or incremental changes to database definitions. v Responsibility for gathering query, CPU & Disk resource requirements for new applications and extensions to existing systems.
