Description: Acts in the highest level technical role as an individual contributor and/or team lead for the most complex computer applications and/or application initiatives. Utilizes a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs. Works on the most complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors. Plans, performs, and acts as the escalation point for the most complex platform designs, coding, and testing. Leads most complex multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts. Acts as expert technical resource to programming staff in the program development, testing, and implementation process. SAS Administrator: Responsible for the administration of a variety of SAS products. Coordinates configuration, installation and general troubleshooting of updates, patches and upgrades of SAS software with users. Recommend environment and configuration enhancements that will improve SAS performance. Educate users on SAS tools and best practices as well as new SAS 9 features. Works with end-users to automate SAS processes including dataset layout, data security, audit, cleanup, backups, archiving, execution schedules and application recovery. Conducts impact analysis for new large SAS routines within the environment. Duties include involvement in planning, coordinating and implementing new releases and system enhancements. Manage daily production problems, ensuring effective and timely resolution and communications to the customer. Participate in the analysis, design and implementation of new products or business initiatives. Establishing performance baselines, application tuning, monitoring of servers for usage and load. Investigate and resolve technical infrastructure and server problems working closely with system administrators and database administrators. Liaison with technology groups, business partners & end-users to ensure availability of environment. Document and communicate with the SAS user community regarding system status, best practices & methodologies, and overall system infrastructure.
