Initial phone interview(s) with Upp consultant onsite at BCBSRI, then phone
interview with client hiring manager.



Project Overview: (What is the larger project that will utilize this
Consultant?  2-3 sentences are fine)

Larger Project: Strategy & Planning Initiative. Initial areas of focus: 1.
Networking – LAN & WAN Services 2. Midrange Services – IBM AIX 3. Intel &
Virtualization – Commodity Computing Platform



Have several things going on, an entire Citrix environment with both XenApp
and XenDesktop - which needs to be upgraded/migrated, currently running
version 4.5 and need to go to version 6.0 and version 5.5, from a 03
environment to a 08 environment and there is no migration path because of
the underlying infrastructure.



The resource  will not be hands for architecture vision and development but
will be taking an outlined strategy/plan

Will need to translate them into executable plans

Will not be a PM – there will be a PM assigned and supporting the project.

Will need to be able to build relationships across vendor – specifically
Dell



Required/Mandatory Skills:  (Pick the top five in rank order)

- Conceptual understanding on virtual desktop infrastructure

- Specifically focused on Citrix network

- Unix network

- AIX - specifically with LPAR consolidation experience

- Storage migration experience

- Proficient with design & implementation of VMWare ESX/ESXi version 3.5 &
4.0

- Proficient with design & implementation of VMWare View & ThinApp product
line

- Proficient in planning & utilizing with VMWare VMotion for ESX storage
migration

- Proficient with design & implementation of Citrix XenApp v4.5 - Migration
planning from XenApp v4.5 to XenApp v6

- Proficient with design & implementation of Citrix XenApp v6 & XenDestop
v5.5

- Proficient with design & implementation of EMC Celerra attached storage

- Proficient with design & implementation of migration plans for storage EMC
DMX to EMC Clariion attached storage

- Proficient with design & implementation of migration plans for storage EMC
Clariion CX3-30  to EMC Clariion CX-480 attached storage

- Proficient with design & implementation of migration plans for storage EMC
NS42G Celerra to EMC NS-480 Celerra - Data Movers & Virtual Data Movers - VD
Move

- Proficient with design & implementation of consolidation plans for IBM
Power Series systems

- Proficient with design & implementation of IBM PowerVM

- Proficient with design & implementation of upgrading IBM AIX v5.3.x to AIX
v7.1 Enterprise Edition

- General conceptual storage understanding SAN & NAS based storage concepts
& best practices

- Number of mid range servers are 8 IBM p570 Power 6 & 1 IBM p750 Power 7
(physical boxes) - 102 LPAR's (logical partitions)

- ~1225 mid range users.

- Number of VMWare ESX hosts is ~39 with ~279 Virtual Machines (VM Guests)
and approximately 50 physical utility/Intel servers.

- Current Citrix environment is 2 farms with ~550 licenses of XenApp v4.5

Total amount of online DASD allocated to Midrange & VM servers is ~71 TB's
with ~44 TB's replicated to DR site.  We will be migrating almost all of
that to the new unified storage platform EMC NS/CX-480
