This role will support the migration of multiple applications from IBM data
centers to Softlayer.



Required Experience/Profile:

·  5+ years experience with linux/unix systems administrations. Experience
with CentOS a plus

·  Thorough understanding of configuration management concepts a must

·  Experience working with a modern configuration management tool such as
Chef or Puppet a plus

·  Proficient knowledge of virtualization technologies

·  Experience with application clustering / load balancing concepts and
technologies

·  Understanding of protocols/technologies like HTTP, SSL, LDAP, JDBC,
Servlet/JSP, SQL, HTML, XML

·  Administering systems in a major Cloud a strong plus (preferably
Softlayer)

·  Clear written and verbal communication



Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

·  Migrate multiple applications from IBM to Softlayer using Rackware.

·  Troubleshoot complex technical issues at any/all level of the
application technology stack.

·  Rebuild and maintain Development file systems; including password
changes, disabling application sockets and other environmental
considerations to ensure the Production file system is protected.  Capable
of overseeing the rebuild process and troubleshooting issues.

·  Support DevOps culture by participating in automation and streamlining
processes that support code and infrastructure releases, environment
set-ups, automated testing, script writing and troubleshooting.

·  Maintain application, database and O/S Environment scripts.

·  Create and maintain application ''Responsibilities,'' user access and
all security elements within the application, which define the scope of
functionality within each application that an end user will have access to.

·  Create and run scripts to analyze data for load testing on various
environments.

·  Responsible for engineering infrastructure core services ( LDAP, NIS,
DNS, DHCP, etc).
