*Description*



*JOB PURPOSE*: The Developer II is responsible for creating and maintaining
computer applications that meet the needs of the business community. In the
creation of new application programs, the Developer II assists in the
identification of business requirements, assists in the creation of
functional designs, creates technical designs, encodes programs, creates
and performs unit tests.  Throughout the entire Systems Development Life
Cycle, the Developer II follows the guidelines and standards as set forth
in the IT Department Policies and Procedures. These standards include
source code control, documentation, testing practices, naming and project
standards, and move to production and release processes.



*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:*

· Code, test, and troubleshoot application programs and system
interfaces utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming
technology

· Refine data and format final product for business community
consumption

· Maintain and modify application programs; make approved changes
by amending project and application documentation, develop detailed
programming logic, and coding changes

· Test and develop programming modifications

· Work directly with technical business analysts and project
managers on application development, integration, and maintenance projects

· Evaluate simple to complex interrelationships between
applications or modules such as whether a contemplated change in one part
of an application would cause unwanted results in a related part

· Analyze performance of applications and take action to correct
deficiencies based upon consultation with users, other technical resources,
and the Development Supervisor

· Confer with technical business analysts and business community to
gain an understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing
applications

· Work with technical business analysts and business community to
ensure understanding of application intent, data input, output
requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls

· Write and maintain simple to complex application documentation

· Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being
processed, stored, or accessed

· Document application problems and resolutions for future reference

· Convert requirements documentation into detailed sequences for
encoding

· Create logical and physical data models to meet the needs of the
business community requirements

· Manage time effectively for multiple projects or priorities

· Accurately estimate the level of effort required to accomplish
multiple related tasks

*Qualifications:*

· Bachelor's degree in related field

· *Four to six years progressive application development and
integration experience, supporting medium sized applications*

· Strong *Oracle retail background* preferred, with focus on RMS
and Replenishment modules

· Minimum of 3 years experience in Oracle retail development and
support

· *Strong in PL/SQL, Pro*C, SQL, TOAD and related support tools*

· *Strong in Oracle Forms development, with 5 + years experience*

· Good knowledge in database design concepts

· Working knowledge of technical modeling techniques such as *data
modeling and logical modeling and design*

· Exposure to Oracle clustered database concepts

· Exposure to any EAI tools like TIBCO

· Good working knowledge of Unix Shell and Perl scripting.

· Ability to troubleshoot in an UNIX / Linux environment

· *Good Java skills and ability to understand JSP and Struts
framework.*

· Basic knowledge of ITIL disciplines

· Clear and effective writing and documenting skills

· Excellent time management and prioritization skills with the
ability to multi-task

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Must be a team builder with demonstrated leadership skills

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills

· Ability to be self-motivated, independent and resourceful

· Capable of being decisive and flexible

· Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity
