Data Modeler/Architect Insurance Information Warehouse (IIW) 5-7 years’ experience with insurance, fixed income or mutual funds 10 years of modeling large scale data systems 8 years’ experience modeling, conceptual, logical and physical mode Strong working knowledge of ERwin Data Modeler Duration: 3+ months Location: Water Street—New York, NY Rate: $100/Hr Work within the semantic and conceptual/logical worksteam of the ERM GRA project to ensure data needs in the Chartis landscape are captured and encapsulated, to produce a reference analytics taxonomy based on the hierarchies within Insurance Information Warehouse (IIW) and the ERM GRA semantic layer interface. This role will include the following activities: • Perform mapping of entities/attributes within selected subject areas from the ERM analytical data landscape to the IIW data model and components such as IIW Business Solution Templates, Enterprise Model and Business Models. • Perform a gap analysis of entities in ERM analytical data landscape not facilitated in the IIW data model. • Produce a roadmap of work for data gap remediation subsequent mapping and modeling activities. • Participate in the effort to define data architecture reference architectures, guidelines, standards and best practices leading to solution architecture for Chartis ERM data integration architecture design and implementation for GRA. • Participate in the development of the logical semantic models for the GRA Data Mart and collaborate with the other Data Modeling Architects to promote and maintain awareness of all changes in GRA Data Mart structures • Collaborate closely with business analysts and data subject matter experts to ensure the semantic layer models produced will properly support business needs around the GRA BI risk analytics area. • Collaborate closely with Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment of the CDW, ODS and Master Data Management models to ensure proper modeling and semantic integration of data across the entire enterprise. • Work closely with database administration to establish and maintain highly resilient, scalable and high performance architecture as the model is implemented physically on the target platform(s). • Develop and maintain a technical roadmap and investment plan for the evolution of enterprise data model for the Enterprise ODS. Qualifications • Minimum 5 years of strong working experience of IBM's Industry Assets Models, technology and IBM's Insurance Information Warehouse Models • Well developed communication skills with ability to convey ideas in a clear and consice manner • A minimum of 10 years of experience modeling large scale data systems with at least three large scale implementations of taxonomy mappings and taxonomy modeling with progressively larger degrees of responsibility and scope of implementation specifically focused on semantic layers and supporting data models. • A minimum of 8 years of experience with modeling (conceptual, logical and physical mode design), and model management for Data Marts, EDW and ODS. • Expertise in creating and documenting the associated knowledge diagrams in application modeling languages / techniques (e.g. UML, OML, entity relationship modeling, DFDs) • Extensive experience with modeling complex data requirements across multiple information domains with an emphasis on mapping to established industry models • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Independent thinker and highly collaborative team member to meet goals and objectives with regards to the GRA data integration. • 5 to 7 years of experience working with financial services preferably with, insurance, fixed income or mutual funds products • Knowledge and/or experience in Data Integration technology, preferably IBM Information Server • Solid experience with Oracle, UDB and structures including very clear understanding of the proper application of these solutions to business initiatives • Expert skills in dimensional modeling and solid understanding of normalization and 3NF structures supporting enterprise warehouses and data marts, with atomic level granularity and time variants ensuring data assets are captured, stored, maintained and aged appropriately • Very good understanding of transaction and information systems, data warehouses, data marts, ODS, MDM methodologies and life cycles as well as ETL and MDM technologies. • Strong working knowledge of ERwin Data Modeler. • Experience with IBM Metadata Server and/or Rochade. • Familiarity with performance tuning techniques in both the Teradata and Oracle environments such as partitioning, conditional RI, Bitmap indexes, Mviews, CUBEs, Dimension and fact definitions as well other de-normalization techniques.
