Job Title: SQL DBA Location: Ann Arbor, MI Duration: 6+ Months Contract Face To Face Interview Description: Manage a DB platform (SQL, DB2, MySQL) which has very distinct differences in Technology and deliverables, while insuring we have the appropriate level of design for Tiers. DBA team members will be challenged to work with architecture, application development and operations to help achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives How will achievement be determined? Our team of DBA’s will perform following ongoing activities for design, maintenance, and optimization, backup, up gradation and monitoring of Databases. Logical and physical database design Design and implementation of data architecture DBA Collaboration with developers for new application launches and Database optimization. 7x24 monitoring and review of Production Database Application Server Components including alert logs, scheduled job status and wide variety of application server performance parameters 7x24 monitoring and review of Production Databases including backup logs, alert logs, scheduled job status, and a wide variety of database performance parameters Database upgrades and patches, as required. Database defragmentation, database/tablespace reorganization, as required Migration of accounts & databases with full image of previous server settings will be done via SSH & Remote desktop connections from one host to another. DBA specific activities: Database Server installation, configuration and set-up, as required. Preventive maintenance. Conference calls and/or online meetings with as required, Database specific object and storage monitoring and management including: Tablespaces Tables Indices Rollback Segments Snapshots/Materialized Views Temp Segments Views Synonyms Roles Database Links Additional Accountability and Responsibility (Serve as model for surrounding IT Org) Ability to be decisive and take into account long and short term consequences of decisions Takes personal ownership Communication is consistent and appropriate Maintains confidentiality Lead by example Managing and Leading (working to become a team leader) Providing timely feedback including addressing issues Identify and provide development opportunity Strives to delight the customer buy anticipating needs.
