Requires basic knowledge of the science behind products for which incumbent provides support. BS and 8-12, MS and 6-10, or PhD and 0-3 years of experience in scientific writing, publication management, or related areas. Strong skills are required in the following areas: project management & implementation, customer service, written & verbal communications, and negotiation. Responsibilities: Required to interact with people on all levels both within and outside the Company (including external writing support) to facilitate the creation and on-time completion of peer-reviewed client publications. Issues written communications pertaining to outsourced publication projects; manages all financial aspects, including obtaining competitive bids, and handles appropriate paperwork. Supports personnel in Medical Communications Department by tracking the progress of publication development, coordinating resources for writing, editing, formatting and submitting articles to peer- reviewed scientific journals and scientific conferences, and providing administrative support for the conduct of Publication Subteam Meetings (e.g., draft agendas, meeting minutes). Interacts intelligently and sensitively with external authors and contractors, and client staff. This requires excellent negotiation skills.
