Position: SQL Database Developer with SSIS Duration: 6 month Location: Manhattan, NY RATE:$42/hr(NOT FLEXIBLE) DIRECT F2F(NEED LOCALS)
Participate in the MS SQL upgrade of several servers hosting multiple databases: SQL server 2005 installation and configuration; database creation; loading and upgrade of SQL 2000 databases. Analyze up to 200 DTS (Data Transformation Packages) and re-write them using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) technology; test, implement and document these. Analyze the stored procedures of the servers being migrated for incompatible SQL code; remediate as necessary Provide advice, including re-write of client-based SQL code found to be incompatible with MS SQL Server 2005 Key Responsibilities The main responsibility of the developer will be to re-write of up to 200 DTS packages using the SSIS technology The new SSIS packages have to be functionally equivalent to the original DTS packages The new SSIS packages have to perform at least 10% faster than the original DTS packages. Work with database administrators to install and configure SQL Server 2005; establish standards for database backup and database extensions. Work with database administrators to configure the security, permissions and access of SQL Server 2005 All results will have to be documented. Provide documentation, including general description of all packages and conversion results and at least 20% ratio of comments to code, as well as source control documentation Write and maintain scripts to automate database administration tasks. Write and maintain standard procedures and HOWTO documents. Experience Required Minimum five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in database development and/or administration. In depth knowledge of Transact-SQL In depth knowledge of MS SQL Server, specifically versions 2000 and 2005 Expert level knowledge in DTS technology (MS SQL 2000) Expert level knowledge in SSIS technology (MS SQL 2005) Proven track record in the migration, upgrade and re-write DTS packages to SSIS packages Experience in database logical and physical design is desirable Experience in both SQL server and query optimization is strongly desirable Experience in both public and private sectors is desirable.
