The CR for this is 6487582. Basically, there is some trivial POSIX behavior (-E is permitted and interpreted to mean no eofstr, read the man page for xargs(1) for more info) that can (and should) be applied to the /usr/bin/xargs version. Then /usr/xpg6/bin/xargs can just be a link to
