OLAP & Database Engineer

SDE II 

 

AdCenter is part of the Windows Live Platform Group focused on building the
next generation of online advertising technologies. The challenge is to
engineer a high performance, reliable, secure and scalable database
architecture that can support huge data and transaction volumes. 

 

We are looking for an OLAP developer to design and deliver world-class
online business intelligence services supporting several of AdCenter data
marts. Candidates should have extensive technical experience in building
business intelligence data warehousing systems and providing advanced
analytics. 

 

The team is an engineering team which is responsible for developing OLAP and
data Warehousing BI solutions. This entails feature development as well as
functional testing. The candidate should demonstrate working experiences in
building scalable OLAP-based BI solutions using MS AS 2005 which entails
OLAP schema implementation, MDX programming, expertise with ETL design and
development including SSIS, T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, replication
and other advanced SQL features. It is also expected to demonstrate
Excellent performance analysis skills on both relational and OLAP Databases
including techniques for analyzing OLAP and relational database applications
and identifying bottlenecks, experience in understanding query plans and
estimates and queries leveraging partitioning is a must. 

The team has an agile development environment with short release cycles and
dynamic business requirements. Strong communication, design and planning
skills are necessary to scope and plan development work in order to meet
business objectives. The developer will be responsible for all aspects of
product feature development including architecture, design, development and
quality.

 

 Responsibilities:

 Design and develop ETL and relational staging Databases. 

 Design and develop multi-dimensional Schemas. 

Design and develop reporting systems for internal and external partners.

 Contribute to development methodologies and best practices.

 Cross group collaborative work with other AdCenter groups.

 Active participation in technical investigations and prototyping. 

 

 Competencies:

 Candidate should have at least 5 years of software development experience. 

 A strong background in Database design and development is required. 

 Experience in Data Warehouse (ETL, OLAP) and SQL Reporting Services is
highly desired.

 Knowledge of agile development methodologies (e.g. SCRUM, RUP).

 A BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field is required.
