*Job Description:*
*Position : App Support Engineer*
*Location :* Palo alto, CA
*Term :* 6 Months+
* Responsibilities:*
· Serve as a primary point of contact for the availability,
scalability, relaibility and performance of our high volume Health
Insurance Exchange environments
· Assist our Software Engineering team to ensure proper monitoring
and metrics are being built into the applications
· Gain deep knowledge of our complex product to develop a bird's eye
view of our platform
· Maintain infrastructure and systems to improve our ability to
deploy, automate, and effectively monitor custom Java applications
· Build and maintain automation systems to help us manage our
rapidly growing infrastructure
· Assist in the rollout and deployment of new product features and
installations to facilitate our rapid iteration and constant growth
· Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack - hardware, software,
application and network
*Requirements:*
· Must have 4+ Linux systems engineering (DevOps) experience in a
web-centric environment
· BS Degree
· Able to write shell scripts and code in Perl, bash or Python
· Knowledge of monitoring systems and configuration management
systems (Puppet, Nagios, Cacti etc
· Experience with Application Performance Management (APM) tools
such as Newrelic or CA Introscope, CEM, eHealth
· Ability to tune Linux kernel parameters to optimize performance
· Experience with load balancing technologies
· Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
· Prior experience in an internet-facing technical operations role
with high uptime requirements
· Strong personal and professional initiative with a focus on the
success of the team and organization
· Self-starter who is able to take ownership of technical issues
· Strong trouble-shooting skills that span systems, network, and code
· Experience with web-based Java/J2EE architectures a plus
. Degree in Computer Science or relevant experience
