*Java Web developer*
*Location:* Atlanta GA
*Duration:* Long Term

As a Software Engineer you will develop cutting-edge web applications for
desktop and mobile devices enabling access to AutoTrader.com products and
services. In this exciting position, you will work hands-on with Java 7,
JBoss 8, Restful Webservices, Solr Search Engine, and TestNG unit testing
in an Agile development environment. You will work with a collaborative
software development team in a fluid, fast-paced environment. The Software
Engineer will interact with development team members and business contacts
while multi-tasking on development projects with minimal supervision. This
position will play a key role in developing the next generation of
AutoTrader.com functionality and capability.
*Responsibilities*
- Develop new or maintain existing programs based on specifications
- Develop, implement, and maintain unit tests of programs
- Participate in requirements gathering and definition
- Leading the design of new or changing programs and producing requisite
specifications.
- Participating in functional test planning and testing for the assigned
application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
- Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned
application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
- Participate in on-call activities
- Sharing knowledge by effectively documenting work
- Maintain expert level of knowledge in area of expertise
- Develop and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the assigned
application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
- Work with the team to ensure the quality of coordinated business
functions.
- Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and taking
ownership for seeing those issues thru resolution.
- Mentor less experienced Engineers
*Required Qualifications:*
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Must have 3+ years’ experience doing hands-on development using the
following technologies:
- Java, J2EE
- Web frameworks (JSF, Struts, or similar frameworks)
- Good working knowledge with Client Side Technologies (HTML/CSS/JS)
- Proven object-oriented design and implementation skills.
- Good knowledge of and experience with user interface design patterns,
visual design elements, web technologies, and development methodologies.
- Excel at multitasking and be flexible to adapt to any given situation.
- Exceptional customer service attitude and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiasm for working closely with other developers and business
teams to understand and address root cause of defects
- Experience using automated unit testing technologies (JUNIT, HTTPUnit,
Selenium) is a plus
- Experience with Kanban methodology a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to all
levels of the organization
- Experience using configuration control and defect tracking tools
(Subversion & Quality Center, VersionOne).
- Java Engineer with experience in the field of performance oriented
Java/J2EE development in both classic and/or agile methodologies.
- Overall use of best practice tools, build tools and scripting.
*Preferred Qualifications:*
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the following technologies:
- Java 7, J2EE (EJB, JNDI, JSP, Servlets, RMI), Web Frameworks (JSF),
Unit testing(TestNG, Mockito), PL/SQL / JDBC, Apache and Apache
Tomcat web
servers, UNIX (RHEL, etc), JBOSS, IDE (Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ IDEA,
EMACS, VIM), HTML, DHTML, XSLT, XML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, Web Services,
Clover, Jalopy, PMD, Checkstyle, Shell Scripting, Perl.
