Location:  Santa Clara, California
Duration:  6+ Months

Database Administrator Job Details:
• Team lead and subject matter expert for SQL Server 2008/2012
• Stay current on the latest technology/database trends and knowledge share
with the team
• Collaborate with engineers and architects on application/database design
• Ensure availability/uptime for business critical database systems
• Provide recommendations on standardization for instance, database, and
operating systems
• Design, develop, and implement procedures, processes, work
instructions/run books
• Windows and SQL Server installation and configuration, including complex
configurations: clustering, multi-site clustering, and SQL Server Failover
Clustering Instances
• In-depth Windows and SQL Server troubleshooting
• Participate in patch management/deployment
• Lead database migration/upgrade strategies
• Maintain complex replication topology and drive improvements/efficiencies
• Assists in developing and testing disaster recovery processes and
procedures
• Lead capacity planning activities. Evaluate capacity trends and make
recommendations
• Drive optimizations and efficiencies through process enhancement and/or
automation
• Partner with project technical leads and engineering teams to execute
technical solutions in line with customer expectations and company
strategic goals
• Participate in after hours/on-call support as needed

- Windows Server 2008, 2012 administration
- SQL Server 2008/2012 administration

- Performance tuning
- Partitioning
- Filegroups/data file layout
- Backups/Restores
- Instance/database level security
- High availability design
- Disaster recovery (DR) design and implementation, business continuity
planning
- Implement standards
- SAN, NetApp, EMC
- Automation
- Powershell
- Analysis Services SSAS
- Reporting Services SSRS
- Integration Services SSIS
- Service Broker
- Distributed database design

Database Administrator Mandatory Skills:
• Minimum 10 years of related experience with 5+ years using SQL Server in
a DBA/equivalent role
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 supporting very large
(1+ TB) OLTP databases with 99.995% availability
• In-depth query performance tuning – detailed understanding of the query
optimizer, execution plans, plan cache, cost estimation, indexes, and
statistics
• Automation of manual processes, T-SQL coding and PowerShell scripting
• Extensive knowledge and troubleshooting skills with SQL Server
replication
• Expert knowledge with log shipping, mirroring, and Always On Availability
Groups
• Strong working knowledge SAN/storage, hardware, and network components
used in SQL Server implementations
• Extensive work experience with NetApp/EMC storage technologies
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
