Websphere Services Consultant *Location : Schenectady, NY* Duration : 2 months *Description: * Description: Office of People with Developmental Disabilities is in the process of migrating the Applications server from Sun One 6.1 web server on Red Hat 4.0 to Web Sphere (WAS) v8.5 on IBM AIX 7.1 platform. The goal of this engagement is to assist with application architecture and enhancements of four environments. These consulting services will assist OPWDD with the enhancement of Web Sphere Application Servers on multiple systems, configure session persistence, setup connection pooling, successfully tie in with Microsoft Active Directory, performance tuning, develop, test and confirm Web Services, and migration of the current custom Java applications from Sun One to Web Sphere application servers through the Production environment Responsibilities o Review the business requirements, which include discussions on the purpose and use of applications. o Review the agencies Web Sphere java applications and understand the relationships between the applications, database and Web Sphere environment. o Review the target audience of the applications, which includes overall size of audience, number of concurrent connections, plans for future enhancements. o Review security requirements, third party software libraries in use, etc and make recommend for improvement. o Review and discuss compatibility issues, which may affect the stability of the applications. o Work with various teams to configure Data sources within Web Sphere for the current apps and any new Java application o Understanding of JDBC thin and OCI database connections o Help support the agencies developers and Web Sphere administrators during critical times, for example during the final production cut-over. o Setup connection pooling with OPWDD WAS ND administration and database team. o Develop, test and confirm web services o Provide guidance to developers for any deprecated code o Help the agency define a file/app migration process using best practices o Additional deliverables as defined by Customer on a per requested basis.
