I have been having numerous problems backing up 5 remote machines
when using Retrospect.

My Retrospect backup system is set up on a Macintosh Server 8550 with
96 megs of Ram 16 Gigs of hard drive space. I am using a Sony AIT
tape drive. I am using Retrospect 4.2. This location has 512kps DSL.

I have 2 Imacs out there one is connected through 256kps DSL and the
other is connected through ISDN. I also have a PB 3400 and two
7100/80's. All machines are set up as TCP/IP.

The DSL is set up as an ATM over PPP (I am not sure exactly what that
means, but I know it is important).

The problem is simple I get 519 errors about 60 - 70% of the time.

The question is how should Retrospect be configured so that I can
make sure that I am getting consistent backups every night.

Is there a specific Port that Retrospect access?

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Yours Truly
Todd Mogilner
