well I am going out on a limb here since I don't know much about
First Class but...

I don't see the problem? If you have a mirrored data, simply copy the
mirrored data and not worry about the live data. The mirroring should
be set to write to the file periodically and you should backup when
it is not in the middle of the mirroring process.
