I haven't tried it yet, but don't the newer Macs have wake on LAN? I
thought I read somewhere that the dual processor G4's did. Does
anyone know if it works?

In a word: no;
Retrospect (nor any other program) will wake the Mac from sleep.
The proper setting for the Energy Control panel would be to set it to only blank the
screen.
