Dear Mirela,

if you are working with quartz capillaries, i would use Pt for the
filament. The plastic parts on the connectors can be removed. I actually
did this already in the basic design. Let me know if you can reach the
necessary temperature!

Re: Sealing capillary in a glove box

2023-01-31 Thread Francois Fauth

Hi

Most of MSPD at ALBA users facing this problem (typically battery
materials previously filled and sealed in Ar GB) prefer sealing with
plastiline (instead of grease)
The problem is often sharp cutting the capillary after having filled the
capillary  Borosilicate caps appaers more brittle than quartz.

At the end is a question of practicing.

Note that for long time in air (transport for example) it is still
advised keeping the capillary stored in sealed envelope/containers

PS Funny coincidence, today users are collecting data on such sealed
capillarys

How can we sealed these capillaries (borosilicate) in the glove box ?

I constructed an electrical heater which is used with a tunable power
supply and a microscope if possible. Let me know if you like to have
details of the design!

Re: Sealing capillary in a glove box

2023-01-30 Thread Fernando Igoa
Dear François,

The easy way we have found to do that is by isolating the open aperture
with vacuum grease inside the glove box and theb taking them outside where
you can seal them easily with a lighter.

Hope it helps

Best,

RE: Sealing capillary in a glove box

2023-01-30 Thread Radovan Cerny
Dear François,

You can just put a bit of vacuum grease, but this is not mechanically very
stable. The best is to seal with a drop of fast epoxy glue. Easy to manipulate
inside the glove box.

Best regards
