I'm very curious: Ring's website, https://ring.cx, seems to be hosted on
Microsoft's network (possibly on Azure?).
I don't want to start a holy war, but I find it disquieting that a Free
Software project would choose Microsoft as a hosting company. Is that a
conscious choice?

This mostly concerns Ring devs and package maintainers.
We just merged related patches in the daemon and in lrc which get rid of the
dubplication of the dbus interface xml definitions. Now the definitions are
only in the daemon.

the desktop clients support profiles.
A profile is basically just a vcard representing the user. You can set the name
and image you wish people to see when you contact them.
