Mike, (This is directed at Mike but I am sending this Off Topic post to Riv as I am hoping some of you may know something in this area as well.)
Background: I live in the Bahamas. Small island life can have a certain set of challenges that do not seem to be publicly considered by tech leading nations. I got into shoutcast/icecast streaming of radio stations many years ago. We have always used a stream host in another country as bandwidth has always been very expensive here. (I did mess around with various peercast technologies back in the day.) Trying to "shout" directly to the server in another country was never reliable for me. Early on, I hit on the idea of shouting at a server either on the same machine or at least on the same subnet on the local lan. I would then let the server in the other country reach back to this local server and pick up and then relay the stream. This was always much more reliable and hassle free. We are now trying to get a bit more fancy with our video / tv streaming and I think the same issue is biting me again. Trying to send direct to twitch/youtube/facebook or to restream.io and let them send to twitch/youtube/facebook works just fine until it decides not to. I am thinking the solution in this case may be similar to what I have been doing for many years now with audio. I am looking for someone to talk this over with. I know enough to send to a local nginx/rtmp server... I don't know how to get restream.io (for example) to pick that stream up... (Do I really need another server in a far country, which I control, to pick up the stream rfom the local server and send on to restream.io or wherever? all the best, drew -- Enjoy the *Paradise Island Cam* playing *Bahamian Or Nuttin* - https://www.paradiseislandcam.com/
