Blame the new "messages.sh" script. It leaves the old rosegarden.pot
untouched, and the new template created in the process as a new file named
"tmp.pot". At end, you must delete the old file, and rename tmp.pot to
rosegarden.pot by hand. I thought that scripts were just for so:
automatically run required commands at the required order.

Sure. rosegarden.pot is a template for translations. If RG isn't
localised to one's mother language, and this one wants to localise it,
he grabs rosegarden.pot, saves it to, say, ua.po and goes on editing
it. All his credits are then automagically added to .po's header by
KBabel (or whatever floats his boat).

In soem projects I saw developers suggesting new translators to grab
existing translations (like de.po), clean msgstr, fix header, rename
and start translating. This is a real waste of time and efforts.
Templates rock :)

It is a template for new translators to start the translation process. They
get the .pot file from the repository, rename or copy it to lang.po, and
begin to translate it with the tool of their choice.

A more detailed explanation in this document:
http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/resources/documents/i18n.shtml

>

In 'Nabucco' (a 32 bit machine), it complains about required libraries:

$ ./xgettext --help
./xgettext: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required
by ./xgettext)
./xgettext: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.1' not found (required
by ./xgettext)
./xgettext: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.0' not found (required
by ./xgettext)

I suppose I could install the required glibc libs, but I don't bother because
I'm going to do an upgrade of this system in a few days.

My other machine, 'Rigoletto' is an amd64. In this one I have the required
compatibility libs already installed, and po/xgettext just runs fine.

Last time I checked (this winter) the code looked fine in comparison
to docs at kde.org, but plural forms still didn't work.

I will definitely be looking into updates in po/, it's just currently
I don't have much time for that (been involved into another
OpenOffice.ru box release with OpenOffice.org, GIMP, Inkscape,
Audacity etc.,)

About your question if there is a new release planned, I don't think so. There
are very few new features and bug fixes in SVN to justify a new release, but
I don't know for sure. It's only my opinion.

I've updated the po/ directory because there is a new Finnish translation. The
translator picked the rosegarden.pot file from the SVN repository, but this
file was outdated and out of sync with the translated message files. I had to
update the rosegarden.pot template for the new translators, and also
synchronize the other .po files merging the new and changed messages. I've
also added a new "po-stats" script, that you can find in the scripts/
directory to report statistics about the translation status.

Please test the new .po files, and let me know if plural handling is broken.
There are still little changes on i18n strings since the last release, so
there is no need to hurry, but also very little work pending.

Pedro

I guess you mean the labels on the "Instrument parameter box", as well as the
menu entries on Matrix and Notation views: View->Add event ruler.

These names are defined in the autoload.rg file, that you can edit (and then
save as your new default autoload.rg) using a tool from the Track view menu:
Composition->Studio->Manage MIDI Devices, then press the "Control Events..."
button. You should do it for each MIDI device type you use, as each synth has
usually a different set of controllers. There is a library of already defined
devices that you may want to use ("Import..." button).

The standard "autoload.rg" file has only one General MIDI synth definition,
but also every library file has English names for MIDI controllers, MIDI
programs, and colour names.

Pedro

Hi,

I have looked these new i18n files, and a patch for po/fi.po is attached
as a result of this process.

Overall, the i18n is now more comprehensive.
Basically, only the translation of the MIDI controller names "Pan",
"Chorus",

"Reverb", "Sustain", "Expression", and "Volume" are presently missing.

Heikki

[Rosegarden-devel] Translators: po/ directory updated

2006-04-12 Thread Pedro Lopez-Cabanillas
Hi all,

As announced yesterday, I've committed an updated "rosegarden.pot" file, and a
synchronized set of message files (*.po). Please review, and complain if I've
broken something. For the record: the script "po/messages.sh" creates a file
named "tmp.pot" which I renamed by hand to "rosegarden.pot", replacing the
old one.

I've used a self built xgettext, because the one provided in the po/ directory
doesn't run in my system, and the one provided by Mandriva doesn't manage
plurals as required. Please test plural variant texts. I've got the sources
from here: ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/devel/gettext-kde/

These are the new statistics, as reported by the new "po-stats" script.
