Re: [Rosegarden-user] Is there a collection of permissively licensed example/demo .rg files?
Hi, Herman Robak wrote: Is there a collection of permissively licensed example/demo .rg files on Rosegarden's website? Thought this might be of interest in the context of this question - this is such non-mainstream that it will hopefully not be considered spam :) - The piano part for my piece Open Cluster (2009-2010) was composed in Rosegarden. The final score rendering was exported to- and then tweaked in Lilypond. The audio rendering of the piano was done by feeding the midi to linuxsampler with the Concert Grand Maestro sample bank by Mats Helgesson. Available here: http://lorenzosu.altervista.org/music_sound/openCluster/ Lorenzo. I have been writing about a dozen scores in Rosegarden lately, for my own amusement and training, and I would not mind publishing some of them. I'm quite fresh, and the scores are written to _sound_ the way I intended with Fluidsynth, not to abide by notational conventions. So some peer review is called for. :-) -- Create and publish websites with WebMatrix Use the most popular FREE web apps or write code yourself; WebMatrix provides all the features you need to develop and publish your website. http://p.sf.net/sfu/ms-webmatrix-sf ___ Rosegarden-user mailing list Rosegarden-user@lists.sourceforge.net - use the link below to unsubscribe https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rosegarden-user -- Create and publish websites with WebMatrix Use the most popular FREE web apps or write code yourself; WebMatrix provides all the features you need to develop and publish your website. http://p.sf.net/sfu/ms-webmatrix-sf ___ Rosegarden-user mailing list Rosegarden-user@lists.sourceforge.net - use the link below to unsubscribe https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rosegarden-user

The only collection that exists to my knowledge is the example files we bundle with Rosegarden itself. Various users have posted links to this or that over the years, but we've never assembled a collection. My scores are quite large. These scores have 14 or 15 tracks: http://www.nuug.no/pub/herman/misc/bebop-bb.rg http://www.nuug.no/pub/herman/misc/deep_blue_progr.rg http://www.nuug.no/pub/herman/misc/mellow_minor.rg http://www.nuug.no/pub/herman/misc/really_slavic.rg They are not long. That's why they are all looped. ;-) I go for a lush sound (except in the bebop big band score), so Timidity's default patches won't do. Use Fluidsynth and the fluid-gm soundfont for playback; that's what the composer intended. We've thought about setting up some kind of sharing deal for users, but every time the idea comes up, it never really gets any traction. I'm pretty much no longer willing to take the idea seriously at this point, because I just don't think there's enough interest to make it worthwhile. Aaawww. Well, I'm scratching my own itch here. I'd like a forum where I can receive and provide advice about composing and musical notation, with Rosegarden. Hopefully, I can _create_ some interest. :-) Couldn't we have a page on the wiki for this? It seems that this is what wikis are ideal for.
