link. Fairly obviously there was not a lot wrong with this iso,
which is what would be expected.
This link explains the checksum procedure in depth:

I am on dial-up and only connect 8/24 because we need the phone line free

I am trying to update an iso ~700 megs over the dialup connection.
My question
pick up from where it left off when I
reconnect, or do I need to kill it and restart it?
Thanks

Is there a way to make rsync check the local file system for changes in the

My understanding is that it does nothing if your file(s) has the same
timestamp and size. Unless you use the -I (
nothing is done
unless you force it.

I must be doing something wrong with this, but I am trying to correct a
downloaded iso which does not match the source md5sum.
This is what I do:
rsync rsync://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/knoppix/KNOPPIX_V3.1-2003-01-20-EN.iso
KNOPPIX_V3.1-2003-01-20-EN.iso
The command returns in a few seconds

Curious. I wonder why rsync thinks the file is up to date.
Maybe the -I or -c options would make it look more

Actually in this instance there is no hierarchy, it is just one flat

it have errors and just download the corrupted parts of it?
Yes.

Murphy's Law did not take a holiday of course so the md5sum of the downloaded
iso does not match the md5sum
