[RollTideFan] Gottfried gets commitment from top JC guard
From TiderInsider: Mark Gottfried's Crimson Tide basketball team picked up its first commitment for the 2005 recruiting class on Monday. JUCO guard Ray George, a 6-3, 185-pounder from Georgia Perimeter CC, announced that he planned to sign with Alabama in the early signing period in November. George, who averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds a game last season, chose Alabama over offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Florida, Clemson and Miami. It's close to home, says the Decatur, Georgia native. I've known the Alabama coaching staff for quite a while. I've always liked them. George originally signed with Georgia State before ending up in junior college. Church amnesty bins result in return of loot After Pastor Derek Rust preached a sermon on stealing, he gave parishioners an opportunity to give back stuff they had swiped. The Bible is fuzzy on issues like stem cell research and smoking in bars, but God is pretty clear about stealing. That's why Pastor Derek Rust put up special bins in the aisles of the Hosanna Lutheran Church in Lakeville last week. He had preached a sermon on stealing, and encouraged sticky-fingered parishioners to return anything they had swiped. He was amazed at the response. In the vast 2,000-seat sanctuary, ersatz thieves have been coming in to return stolen loot - not during worship, but during the week, when they could slink in unnoticed.
