HOOVER | Shaud Williams has taken every ounce of skepticism thrown at the University
of Alabama football team and used it to thrive.

“We are under the radar," the Crimson Tide running back said. “Everyone is doubting
our team and program and that just motivates us, as players, to prove ourselves."

Williams was one of five Alabama players voted to the 2003 Preseason All-SEC first
team Thursday at SEC Media Days.

Linemen Wesley Britt and Justin Smiley, defensive lineman Antwan Odom and linebacker
Brooks Daniels join him.

“People have asked how good can we be?" Tide head coach Mike Shula said Wednesday. “On
paper, I think we’ll be pretty solid."

# Members of the media thought so σ choosing more Crimson Tide players to the first
team than any other school:Williams (5-foot-8, 182-pound senior) enters the 2003

player in school history with back-to-back 100-tackle seasons.

Crimson Tide linebacker Freddie Roach (6-2, 237) is one of only two sophomores voted
to an All-SEC team.

Roach, who is listed by The Sporting News as the No. 15 outside linebacker in the
nation and finished last season with 63 tackles, was voted to the All-SEC second team.

Vanderbilt’s Kwane Doster, a sophomore, was voted to the second-team specialists.

Auburn senior linebacker Karlos Dansby received the most votes (77 out of 78) for his
