RE: [RollTideFan] What Price is saying

I agree and chances are good that all future coaches will understand the
magnification of the Bama job. CMP really should have known better than to
go out carousing the way he did no matter which team he was coaching. All in
all I'm pleased that things worked out the way they did for Bama. They
needed a long term commitment from a coach and with CMS they have it.

ROLL TIDE!

[RollTideFan] What Price is saying

What Price is saying -- and what his QB says about him
   By Dennis Dodd

EL PASO, Texas -- Selected quotes by Mike Price and others on his situation.

On being fired at Alabama:

"No one had my back ... I think the Board of Trustees were really in favor of me.
(Athletic director) Mal Moore was wonderful to me. The president said, 'Hey look, this
guy is going. If you don't like it get a new president.'"

On being "warned" by Alabama officials about his conduct:

"No one ever called me and said, 'Hey you can't be drinking in public.' They gave me
$1,000 a month to buy booze for alumni. That was an expense account."

On his conduct at Arety's Angels, the strip club in Pensacola, Fla.

"The owner of the bar was an Auburn booster of all things. I didn't even get up ... I
just sat there at the end of the bar and was a gent -- not a gentleman -- but I wasn't
going (yelling) 'Hey, baby, come here.' I just sat there and talked to the bartender.
He was the only guy who knew who I was."

Did you ever regret taking the Alabama job?

"That's the easy thing to say, I don't even want to admit that. That's like I said, 'I
wish (current Oregon State coach) Mike Riley would have taken that job.' I still think
it's a good football job."

On perspective:

"It wasn't the best of times but I've had the best of times with my family and my job.
I saw my high school friend, and he's got prostate cancer and my good friend's wife
has ovarian cancer. I'm going, 'Holy Cow, I'm feeling sorry for myself? Get real
Price.'"
