System: x86-Linux, jdk 1.5.0, eclipse 3.2.1

Trying to install RDT as described at
http://rubyeclipse.sourceforge.net/download.rdt.html :

# Choose Help->Software Updates->Find and Install

OK

# In the dialog choose "Search for new features to install" and push next

OK

# Select "Add Update Site" and add one of the following URL's depending
on the build stream you want to follow:
    * http://updatesite.rubypeople.org/release for release builds
    * http://updatesite.rubypeople.org/integration for integration
builds including release builds and release candidates
    * http://updatesite.rubypeople.org/nightly for the latest nightly build

There is no "Add Update Site" GUI element. There is a button labeled
"New Remote Site...". I am using this to enter name RDT-site, URL
http://http://updatesite.rubypeople.org/release.

After that, "RDT-site" appears in the list of "Sites to include in
search" and is the only list item checked.

# Check RDT and push next

It is already checked, and the "Next >" button is disabled. Using button
"Finish" instead:
Messagebox window appears with title "Problem Occurred" and text
"Network connection problems encountered during search."
My network connection is up and working. It seems the server at
updatesite.rubypeople.org is not responding.
(Installing CDT using the Callisto site succeeds.)

Next Try: "Download the zipped plugin"

At http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=50233 , I
choose release 0.8.0, download the
org.rubypeople.rdt-0.8.0.604272100PRD.zip file, extract it inside the
eclipse installation directory. I stop and restart eclipse. I cannot
find any hint of the rdt installation inside the eclipse IDE. (Trying to
create a new project, to change the perspective, to view installed
plugins.) No hint of anything ruby at all.

What went wrong?

Regards,
  T.
