I agree with Markus. And on the terms of upgrading, is there an easy way to 
port plugins of an existing eclipse 3.1.x installation
to 3.2 wi/o having to reinstall them all from their own sources? (that is one 
reason I haven't upgraded to 3.2.. i dont want to
manually reinstall my 85 plugins)

if you're on 3.1.x (not a 3.2 milestone, just upgrade eclipse with the 
built-in updater.)  If you're siwtching from milestones, I just install new 
version of eclipse, and then do recursive copies of the various plugin and 
feature directories.  Just leave out the ones that come with eclipse.
