Thanks for that information. I am sorry I did not make myself
clearer earlier. I do not see options to actually run two controllers
simultaneously, one as master and one as slave, as built in support for Ryu. If
I need that functionality, do I need to build that app myself?

If you want to change role to master/slave/equal, you can send
"OFPRoleRequest" to datapath.
