We time it by actually connecting, not sending an ICMP packet for the
record. So if you have a not-so-transparent proxy in front of you then its
quite possible that the timings differ.

With Ubuntu 16.04 x86_64 running on Intel Core i7-6700HQ + 16 GB RAM, from
a fresh git clone + pull develop, parallel (-j8) build OK and make
