The src/README.txt files on sage mirrors, e.g.
http://files.sagemath.org/src/README.txt
are out of date. Is that a know problem? Is this list the right place to
report it?

It's not known (at least to me) and it's probably the best place to
report it here. My suggestion is to remove that readme file from
there. It's inside the tarball anyways, right?
