Actually, late night spurt — with Huffman trees it's 5,528 bytes and 6,653 bytes respectively. So going with the lowest figure I make that 330k for the whole map. The watermark isn't a problem as I'd want to make up each screen by hand anyway. I'd be happy to make a couple of test screens up

Actually, I guess you don't really need test screens for what you're doing. the offer is there anyhow :)

I took Nev's 74.2 Meg of the Games Master manual and OCRed a new searchable pdf which is around 960 kb. I also OCRed 192 pages of the SCADS manual 2.4 Meg both can be found in the link below, if you find any OCR errors Please let me know and I will fix them.

I'll wager you can do better at compression than I can at present, as I'm almost completely new to this. But that makes it interesting. It's obviously wrong to focus too heavily on any test set, but I've bundled together the five images I'm currently testing with, in their optimal PNG forms, and
