great. So my question: The version for download under the adresses given
below couldn´t get unzipped under Windows (98). Is there a similar version
for Windows. I would like to be a willing volunteer to try out

You'll need bzip2 and tar to extract it, then Visual Studio 6 to build
it. I'm guessing you probably just want a version to use on your Win98
machine, rather than to build
