The problem is that when we connect to the samba share through the network
neighborhood, WinXP gives a login box which has the user name guest, and
it is greyed out so that you cannot change it. This is despite the fact
that I am logged into WinXP as username.
Did you find a

This copy of Samba 3.0.0 matches the signature I downloaded from
samba.org, using GPG. Your copy may vary however.

Hi,
I suggest you put computer objects into the People container. Samba-3 does
not search the Computers container correctly. That should solve your
problem.
Cheers,

Hi,
Please put the machine accounts into the People (in your case
the 'accounts') container. This is a known
bug in Samba-3 - it does not search the Computers (in your case
'hardware') container for computer accounts.
This should solve your problem.

I have a server running slackware 9.1 and samba samba-2.2.8a and have WinXP
Home (SP1) on a client machine. I have all of my users My documents
pointing at a subdirectory of their home directories (ie.
/home/USER/.documents). All of the users are able to use this with no
problems EXCEPT me.
Hi,
I've set up an HP-PSC-2210 printer share accordingly to the
Samba-HOWTO-Collection on a debian/testing.
Everything works fine until the step 6.8.2. IMPORTANT! Setting Device
Modes on new Printers
As soon as I hit the 'properties' menu of the printer,
Windows displays the following message :
I don't know how this worked, but if I point My Documents to
\\SERVER\homes everything seems to be OK. I still don't know why
\\SERVER\robert bombed out. I'd be interested to know why.

Hi,
Thanks for your information. Now I was not able to login as domain user. I
am getting following error message.
The system cannot log you on now because domain TECHGROUP is not available.
Here is my ldap log message:-

Hi,
There will be a bug fix for 3.0.1 within a few days. Looks like we have a
bug in NTLMSSP code in 3.0.1. This does prevent domain logons. Domain
joins when done as 'root' do work, but subsequent logons do not. A patch
was posted on samba-technical yesterday and should be in 3.0.2pre CVS
