setup the printer drivers and printer settings by browsing to the BDC

Hello Everyone!
Perhaps some of you have some advice for dealing with

Hi,
the samba-3 by example book explains how to set up folder redirection. If I get
it right, it takes two steps:
1.: Enable folder redirection in the user-profiles,
2.: exclude redirected folders from roaming.
Step 2 has to be done on each workstation.
Do I have to fear corrupted profiles when
G'day All,
After searching the archive I am no closer to achieving what I want.
I've seen lots of posts that suggest this can be achieved but the
methods used don't work for me. I won't pretend I understand linux or
samba permissions because every time I think I've got it, I turn out to

Problem was in the nsswitch.conf:
that should be ldap.conf of course
entry:
nss_base_group dc=ahm,dc=nl?one
should have been:
nss_base_group dc=ahm,dc=nl?sub

Thank you for responding to my post.
As for your question, my concern is not that (as you
put it) the date of last modification [is] the date
of the file. It is, rather, this:
If today I do cat file.txt on a text file whose
last-modifiation date is December 23, 2003, I would
not expect ls -l

Can anyone else confirm this problem so I know I'm not crazy? I've tried
many different configuration options, but cannot get this working.
In case my first post was too verbose, here's a quick way to see the
problem.
1. Have 3 machines: Samba server, XP client, Linux client.
2. Mount shares
Hi Sambatistas,
a few days ago there was a discussion, how to force

If you use a default.bat at netlogon this is executed
as the logon user , therefor you are running in rights problems
if you wanna execute job which need admin right like regedit /s .

Thanks for the information. The problems and solutions
you cite *are* related, I think, because I have found
that my problem occurs only on Excel files that the
user does not own -- an important fact I didn't see
before.

It would appear that this problem can be avoided by
putting force user = someuser in the relevant share
definition, and then doing chown someuser on the
relevant excel files.
