I have read louis`s howto from december, tried to use kunbuntu, this failed at
the ldap server test stage, tried various things, could not make it work, so
downloaded debian.
Followed louis`s howto and compiled a 2.6.8 kernel (louis, the compile
instructions do not work as given).

Ive upgraded from Samba 2 to version 3, and am having some problems. I
think theyre related to SIDs, which Ive not really been aware of before!
Currently I only have the Samba server which is acting as PDC for Win XP Pro
machines. My smb.conf looks like:
Hi. I am running 3.0.20.
1. I would like to have an include statement pointing to user
configurations. For a user, say 'mike', the following works:
include = /home/mike/smb.conf
But this does not:
include = /home/%u/smb.conf
I am using a very simple config with 'security = user'.

Ah, an upgrade to 3.0.14a fixed it. (3.0.20 is not available to us at this
time).

I assume I am doing(or not) something extremely simple that is causing my
XP boxes to not see my linux(FC4) Samba server in the 'My Network Places'.
I can access the shares by 'Map Network Drive' and using the IP
address(192.168.0.1).
I have set the workgroup name 'DAMEN' in the lmhosts file.
I have a problem browsing in my subnets let me explain me situation:
I have a m0n0wall (FreeBSD based router software) with 3 nics.
nic1:My WAN connection
Nic2:My LAN connection (192.168.0.0/24 m0n0 is DHCP)
Nic3:My Wifi connenciot (192.168.1.0/24 m0n0 is DHCP)
just using ip-adresses acrossed
I would like to ask how do i set samba to reject files that are known to
be mailicious, etc., folder.htt and executable files?
Thanks in advance.
