Having the same problem two days ago, i've decide to use 3.0.21b samba
version.
During the net rpc join i've encountered the same
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED error.
This appears all the time even when migration goes well, I don't know
why but it's a fact.
Which samba version are you using ?
Have you mounted the other partition as data or is data just at dir
on the other partition?

I would like to use 'smbclient -M' to send a message to a certain user.
This is not a problem if this user is the only one logged in to his
windows box, but when he is using a Windows terminalserver with several
other users logged in, every user would get this message, which isn't
