Hi,
I also run FreeBSD 6.1 (and also experience a lot of trouble with
version 3.0.23c...)
For your problem you should check your /etc/hosts.
It must have the CHILD1.AD.WGA as fqdn for your IP like this:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx CHILD1.AD.WGA CHILD1 alias1 alias2 ... aliasN

I'm not sure if you can do this but I would suggest doing
this via ssh.

I have looked at this, and although it is a possibility, since Windows
does not come with a built in ssh client, it's not a very portable
solution. That being said, if Samba can't do what I want, this is the
approach I will have to take.
Thanks,

Tom,
If you can't get through your servers using your SSH client you can
always use Telnet (although it's very unsecured). That's an option if
you are looking for a portable solution... although SSH would be ideal
if you had it.
There was a thread in the past, i know, but i have not found any solution:

Hi,
After lots of struggle and rtfm I finally got most things running, except
for 'nmblookup' and 'net getlocalsid' on the BDC. I'm not new to Samba, but
plenty more to learn. Here's the setup in summary:
system pdc is the PDC on subnet 192.168.0.0, running SuSE10.1, LDAP master,
wins server,
I had a similar problem, im still researching for a better solution.
What i did was use the remote announce option in every BDC and the PDC.

Dear sirs,
I am running redhat 8, kernal 2.4.20-28.8smp...I can mount my PC easily
enough, but I want to access a plugin USB drive..so I try to mount that
but on the USB the disc files are very large

To perform a backup on my linux server, I have written a script. I mount a
share on a windows server, and then zip four directories onto the samba
mounted drive. It then unmounts the share.
The tar command I use calls gzip, and I get a No space left on device
error. This is what's in the syslog:

Does that mean that with a Samba PDC with winbindd running, samba users
could log onto a Linux machine without having a Linux user account?
yes, winbindd can retrieve the required information from an AD-/
NT-domain and dynamically map windows accounts to linux accounts.
on a PDC winbindd
I have checked this and it does look correct:

shutdown script = /etc/samba/shutdown.sh %z %t %r %f
abort shutdown script = /sbin/shutdown -c

/sbin/shutdown $3 $4 $2 $1
I just discovered something; if I use the shutdown gui in Windows XP,
the remote shutdown works. I'm not sure what's different between doing a
remote shutdown with the gui and from a command line, but as I need it
to work from a command line, does this help anyone come up with an idea?
I'm out
I tried the suggested solution and i still run into the same issue (Further

was proposed, don't know whether that worked for the thread originator)
