Hi,
We have Samba version 3.5.4 and we are using winbind (Active Directory) for
authorisation.
The issue is that for most of the members of a Samba share it is not possible
to connect this Samba share. This because of the error below. It seems to be
that the number of Active Directory groups
Hi,
I'm currently using the following smb.conf file so that everyone can browse any

HI,
is there a way to make dfs work with the newest samba4, the way samba3 does?
And what about the standalone mount-cifs package?

With that problem solved, I want to control the file permissions in order to

One thing: do you have log level set? If so, put it down to 0 -
logging (which is really debugging) totally kills Samba performance

Hi,
I have installed Samba 3.5.5 on a Sparc Solaris 10 system and it's the PDC of a

Does this problem exist with Windows clients that are joined to the

I'm wondering about the two things that may have changed besides the
version of Samba. One is that you are using security=user in a system
without a domain. I don't think that should change anything except
that you probably don't have a machine account on the server.
The other thing is that

Thanks for your answer.

I think i'll rephrase my question.
Are the Samba developers and community willing to support using Win9x

And if so, does anyone actually have that working?
I can connect win9x using local accounts, just not domain

map to guest=bad user
however, all users should auth, all the time. it's the post-win98 way
of doing things.

Hello Claudio,
it might not fit your problem, but i had problems accessing Samba from

It turned out, that Win 7 needs the domain-part, when you log in.
So $sambapc\$username as login-name worked.
At least it's worth a try.
