As I said, I'm in the list for just a few month so I never read anything

I think it's a good thing to know that in case I bump into this parameter on
one of my servers.
Thanks again Ben.

Hello
I've got a problem with users from a Winxp client authenticating to a
debian 6 (samba 3.5.6~dfsg-3squeeze2) domain member. The PDC runs samba

The domain is called SBS.
In the debug log of the debian box, the PDC seems to answer correct to the
auth request but the on the Winxp client

So there is:
remote browse sync = 'THENAMEOFTHEOTHERPDC'
remote announce = 'Remote_network_address'/'Remote_Domain_Name'
Your wondows client should have netbios over tcp enabled and the wins.
Or try samba4wins in replication.

Sounds like a bug in your version of the cifsfs kernel

then it's cifsfs screwing up somehow.

After reading many wikis it seems that you need to use Winbindd only
when you need to connect samba to any Microsoft Windows NT domains

Is it true that you did not need winbindd
If you have domain with the following specs- you do not need winbind
- samba PDC
- no samba member servers
- samba BDC's optional
- no trusted domains
You would need winbind in any of following cases-
- you have a Samba PDC but you need to trust Windows domains
