I have a setup - Samba 4 for AD functionality and Zimbra 8 for e-mail and
collaboration.
Configured in Zimbra that for authentication Samba 4 has to be used. Basically
it works, but now randomly one time in two or three days authentication just
stops working. Nobody is able to log in to
[global]
include = /data/config/samba/servers/%i
and I've attached the result from running testparm on one of those
included files.

I'm using ldap auth.
Anyway - found the problem. There was SplitDNS configured and time after time
Zimbra internal DNS could not find ldap by it's DNS name :)
Removed that stupid SplitDNS config, changed resolv.conf and i guess topic
could be closed. ;)

Your advice was spot on and I have found the issue in the windows 7
security settings. Not sure how
it happened as a bad client was imaged from a good client.
I'd already tweaked the Network Security: LAN Manager authentication
level to 'Send LM
I suspect, that ML software removes attachments, so please put
it somewhere on the Web.

What type of filesystem are you using? Do you have barriers enabled?
I know in Linux that you should set barrier=1 on the ext3/ext4 filesystem in
order to prevent corruption of sam.ldb in
cases of power loss.
It's all on ZFS, so I don't believe there's an equivalent setting.

I've successfully created a GPO for user logon scripts with Samba4... However,
the 'SYSVOL\domain\Policies' folder and contents is not replicated to the other
DC's.
Is this normal? It is working, but it seems that this is a 'single point of
failure' for 'logon' scripts.

Samba 4 doesn't currently have FRS enabled and so doesn't replicate SYSVOL.
