[Samba] Samba 4 dnsupdate errors

I have installed samba from source (I've tried both V4-0-stable and v4-1-stable) using BIND9_DLZ on Ubuntu server 13.04 and I'm unable to get samba_dnsupdate to function. # samba_dnsupdate --all-names --fail-immediately will return dns_tkey_negotiategss: TKEY is unacceptable If I then try

Re: [Samba] RODC between samba v4 servers

2013-07-26 Thread Andreas Calvo
I've dug a little bit more on the RODC set up. I've tried using BIND with DLZ and without as well as the internal DNS server. In both cases, I get an error when the RODC tries to register itself to gc._ msdcs.test.com. Under DLZ, it fails for a non-secure transaction: Jul 26 15:11:39 dc

Re: [Samba] Question on approach to authenticate Linux against Samba4

2013-07-26 Thread dahopkins
Thank you for the help ... seems like almost there but .. short version .. getent passwd doesn't retrieve any information from the samba4 DC. Seems that nslcd tries to use a simple bind and not kerberos but I think I have nslcd.conf set correctly. Rest of story, see below. For good measure

Re: [Samba] Error demoting

Jonis- Are you running this on the DC that you originally provisioned the domain on? If that is the case, this has been the behavior for several months now and I was never able to get to the bottom of it, nor able to demote/remove that original DC. However, in my experience, the command

This has now been fixed - apparmor was preventing bind from writing to the /var/tmp directory. On 13-07-26 09:22 AM, Dave Hawkes wrote: I have installed samba from source (I've tried both V4-0-stable and v4-1-stable) using BIND9_DLZ on Ubuntu server 13.04 and I'm unable to get samba_dnsupdate

Since I couldn't get 10.04 to work, I built a server with the base 12.04 install, added the required packages per the documents suggested earlier except I didn't install any samba packages. This has worked and I can now log onto the new server with all the original accounts. I have no idea why

[Samba] Triggering a reread

2013-07-26 Thread Paul D. DeRocco
The docs say that sending SIGHUP to smbd triggers an immediate reread of the configuration. There's generally more than one instance of smbd running, though. Can I send the signal to any one, or is there one in particular that handles it, or must I send it to all of them? More to the point, my
