management that this is a viable alternate strategy for the long term
future.
Has anyone put a document together that might contribute to this
business case?

Hi,
Using samba 3.0.25b, testing to join to a Windows 2008 domain using ADS
security with kerberos and it doesn't seem to work. Anybody else tried this
combination?
Same configuration worked joining to a Windows 2003 R2 domain.
I'm not a samba expert but looking at the log it looks like
arround this?
My thanks for your help.
Eddie.

Dear list members,
I am unable to logon to the domain.
I have created the tdbsam using the smbpasswd -a root command.
I also added User Administrator as unix and samba account.
I also mapped groups Domain Admins, Domain users and Domain Guests to
unix groups domadmins, domusers and domguests
description from A to
Z please.
Can't be that hard since you all got it working, right?
My thanks in advance.

Unix groups?
i.e., net groupmap modify ntgroup=Domain Admins unixgroup=domadm?
I think that I ran into similar problems when I upgraded from Samba 2.2.8a

I haven't read through/played with the all of the pdbedit options, but I've
used the Microsoft User Manager for Domains (that comes with the freely

More fully, the problem is that when I restrict which workstations a user
can log onto (via the User Manager from srvtools.exe), the user cannot
browse the samba 3.0 member server (or use the printer).
Our domain includes a Samba 3.0 PDC, a Samba 3.0 member server (security =

Kris,
If you are using a client login script, perhaps the cmdinfo.exe tool can be
of some assistance.
You can find this tool on the internet, doc's too.

Hi Metze and list,
I am willing to try this, but I thought the admin users parameter
primairily is used in the services section and not as a global parameter?
So this parameter would only affect rights on a service.
Am I right or wrong?

The answer to this really depends on what it is that you are trying to do
Hello,
Using smbgroupedit, should I link groups to ldap groups, those in /etc/group
(if I also would define them in there) or both?
Or none? (If using ldap)

Hi again,
I just wanted to add this to make my information more complete:
The id primary group id of user eddie in the ldap tree is 500:201.
201 is the group Domain Users
But you have to know that user eddie also excists with id and gid 500:500
in the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files
with ldap support compiled in and openldap on RH 7.0
server.
Everything else is working fine.
Looking forward to solve this (final) problem.
Thank you all very much for any answer.
Eddie.
