[Samba] win 9x clients can't get list of clients from Samba PDC

Slackware 8.1 Samba 2.2.4 PDC in a Win 9x/NT/2k network. NT/2k clents can get the list of users in order to define shares with no problem, but win 9x clients say: You cannot view the list of users at this time. Please try again later and cannot define shares. has anyone else faced this problem
