After running into a few issues in trying to join my debian
(squeeze) box to
a windows 2008 server, I am running into this (hopefully last) problem...
When I try to do te net join command, I get the following

Darn! It is, and from what I saw there, this issue has not yet been
resolved...

passdb backend using debian sarge.
when i configure /etc/smbldap-tools/smbldap.conf
and /etc/smbldap-tools/smbldap-bind.conf right, and do:

ok, it creates default windows group, but when i do a 'net groupmap
printable = Yes
browseable = No
[netlogon]

It's exactly the same. Except that I use tdbsam instead of ldap and the error
message therefore also is different in the log file. But the example and result
is the same. Do you have any idea of workaround or fix?

You can also use smbclient to log onto the printer share and then put

This error usually means that samba is being started up by xinetd or inetd.
These deamons watch the ports and prevent other processes from attaching to
them.
You will have to edit the config files for these daemons to make them stop
this behavior.

I'm working my through the The Unofficial Samba HOWTO but when I tried
this command:
mount -t smbfs -o username=fred
lppause command = /usr/sbin/lpc hold ps %j
lpresume command = /usr/sbin/lpc release ps %j
share modes = No
use client driver = yes
The truncation is to get rid of the boilerplate with which some programs prefix their
print job names.

Is there a linux version?

box.
Is xinetd trying to control samba? That has all sorts of ways not to
work. Best to have samba as a stand alone daemon.
