Have you checked the output of testparm? Run it and see if it doesn't like some configuration settings. I had very similar results when I had some misspelled configuration settings. And if that doesn't work, remove any and all log files, then add loglevel = 10 to your smb.conf, then start the

OK, I set the lohlevel to 10 in the smb.conf file. Then I deleted current log files for smbd and nmbd. I ran both and then I checked the smbd log file. The only sense of an error message is at the very end of the file: smbd: symbol lookup error: smbd: undefined symbol: cupsLangDefault This is

I have just installed Fedora Core 5 with the Samba server. However only the nmbd daemon is running. I thought both smbd and nmbd should be running. On trying to start smbd with: /sbin/service smb start the result is starting smbd [FAILED] Stopping smbd of course has no effect, and starting or
