I would like to use:
pdbedit -P 'refuse machine password change' -C 1
on my Solaris SPARC server running Samba 3.5.5 as a PDC to stop clients
changing their machine passwords.
Does this actually work?
I have seen some old messages on various forums suggesting it does not
work or does not work
Can I copy tdb files from a big endian system to little endian system?
I would like to do this to move my Samba PDC from Samba 3.5.5 on Solaris
SPARC to Samba 3.5.10 on Linux x86_64 but there are some reports that it
may not work. (I don't need to move the printing tdb files).
Thanks
Nick
The Sun 7310 is a storage appliance. It is not running Solaris 10 but
runs an OS based on Open Solaris with CIFS and Windows style
authentication integrated in the kernel. Installing Samba is not an option.
You really should be using the integrated CIFs server.
It is probably simpler to set up

Could you elaborate on why/when setting rpath would cause problems? I'm
having trouble coming up with an example.

On Solaris I think the best option for packages which have a directory
structure like:
package/bin
package/lib
is to link the executables with:
-R$ORIGIN/../lib
(In a Makefile use: LDFLAGS = -R\$$ORIGIN/../lib)
This means the package can installed anywhere and still pick up the

You need to use convmv on your Samba server.

The old server is being used as a NIS+ server which means it would
be very difficult for me to move the old hostname and IP to the new server.

I was trying to figure out how to add printer drivers manually for
downloading to Windows 2000 clients and I came accross this problem.

I think there is a small error in the 'acl compatibility' documentation.
In the first sentence in the smb.conf.5.html web page it currently says:

Hello
I have attached a small patch to fix this problem on Solaris 7:
CPPFLAGS=-I/usr/local/include LDFLAGS=-L/usr/local/lib -R/usr/local/lib
CC=cc ./configure --with-acl-support --localstatedir=/var/samba
--with-configdir=/etc/samba --with-privatedir=/etc/samba --with-quotas
--with-automount
Hi
I am afraid that the problem is still there in the CVS version
from last night. See attached file.
